Under the theme “Embracing Future Entrepreneurs with T.A.S.T.E (Technology, Arts, Sciences – Food and Consumer, Agriculture, Technical Studies, Entrepreneurship, and Entertainment”, the students, teachers and administrators of L. W. Young Junior High School welcomed dignitaries, parents, community members and other stakeholders to support the entrepreneurship talent and abilities of students during an exhibition on Wednesday, 19th March, 2025.


The exhibition showcased products created or cultivated by students across various disciplines including agriculture, family and consumer science and art.


Special guests included Deputy Governor General Mrs. Ruby Ann Darling; Member of Parliament for Fox Hill and Foreign Affairs Minister, The Hon. Fred Mitchell; Deputy Chief of Mission of the People’s Republic of China in The Bahamas, Mr. Cui Wei; Executive Director of the Tourism Development Corporation, Mr. Ian Ferguson and Chief Executive Officer of Bahamas Power and Light, Ms. Toni Seymour.


Mr. Cui Wei was the special guest speaker during the opening ceremony. Mr. Wei highlighted the twenty-seven- year diplomatic relationship between The Bahamas and China and the Chinese government’s assistance with educational opportunities for Bahamian students throughout the years. Members of the Chinese embassy encouraged students to pursue their entrepreneurship goals stating that “Entrepreneurship knows no borders”, while also highlighting the journey of prominent Chinese entrepreneurs.


The students sold several of their products including handmade jewelry, lamps, art pieces, plants, and cupcakes.
