Keenan S.P. Johnson serves as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, working alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science & Technology, the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, in advancing the Ministry’s national education agenda and strategic priorities.
As Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Johnson supports the Minister in the execution of the Ministry’s mandate, assisting with policy engagement, stakeholder collaboration, parliamentary matters, and initiatives aimed at strengthening education, science, technology, and workforce development throughout The Bahamas.
An Attorney-at-Law by profession, Mr. Johnson was called to the Bars of both England & Wales and The Bahamas in 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree with honours from Cardiff University in Wales and completed the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School in England. He also earned a Master of Laws in Professional Legal Practice, with Distinction, from BPP Law School.
His academic and professional development reflects a strong commitment to governance, leadership, and education. Mr. Johnson also holds a Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering and Governance, Risk and Compliance, as well as certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution. In 2026, he completed a Diploma in Adult Workforce Education Training from the University of The Bahamas and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Practice at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
Prior to his appointment as Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Johnson served as Course Director and Professional Development Programme Coordinator at the Eugene Dupuch Law School, where he was responsible for academic instruction, programme development, and professional training initiatives. He lectured in areas including law office management, corporate governance, and legal practice. He also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of The Bahamas, teaching courses such as Company Law, Corporate Governance, and Hospitality & Tourism Law.
Mr. Johnson brings extensive experience in financial services, corporate governance, commercial transactions, and employment law, having held senior legal and management positions within major financial institutions and private practice both locally and internationally.
Beyond his professional work, Mr. Johnson has remained actively engaged in public and community service. He most recently served as Chairman of the Town Planning Committee within the Ministry of Works and has also contributed in leadership roles as a Director of the Bahamas Development Bank, Director of the Eleuthera Chamber of Commerce, and Committee Member of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation.
Mr. Johnson is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He is married to Shakera Johnson, and together they have one daughter, Kearra.
