Hundreds of preschoolers marched through the streets of New Providence on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, for the 22nd Annual Preschool Costume Parade and Banner Competition.

This year’s event centered on the theme “An Alphabet Explosion!” and showcased the creativity of students from various schools across New Providence.

This year’s event centered on the theme “An Alphabet Explosion!” and showcased the creativity of students from various schools across New Providence.


Accompanied by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Band, the Bahamas Department of Corrections Band, and the energetic rhythms of Junkanoo, the march started at the Willard Patton Preschool and ended at the Cultural Heritage Site at Arawak Cay.


The parade served as the grand finale for a week of fun-filled festivities honouring 22 years of preschool education in The Bahamas.


The week’s itinerary featured a diverse range of activities, including a church service of thanksgiving and an art exhibition hosted at the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training headquarters. Additionally, the schedule included the Andrea D. Wisdom Sports Day for fun and competitive engagement among peers and families as well as a night of fellowship designed to strengthen the community bond between parents and educators.


The celebration concluded at Arawak Cay with the formal announcement of the 2026 parade and banner competition winners.
